If you’re looking for a healthy turkey burger recipe that’s still juicy and full of flavor, this one’s for you. Made with lean ground turkey, fresh herbs, and topped with creamy avocado, crisp lettuce, and tomato, these burgers are the perfect balance of wholesome and satisfying. Serve them with a simple side salad for a light, family-friendly dinner that everyone will love.

Ingredients
- 1 lb ground turkey
- 1 medium red onion, finely chopped
- 3-4 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ cup fresh parsley, minced (or whatever herbs you have on hand)
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp pepper
- Cheese (optional)
- 1 avocado, sliced
- Lettuce and tomato for topping
- Burger buns, toasted
- Olive Oil for cooking
Recipe
- In a pan heat about a tablespoon of olive oil and saute the diced red onion until soft, approximately 5 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic to the pan and continue to saute until fragrant, about 1 minute.
- Remove the onion and garlic from the pan and let cool slightly.
- In a medium bowl, combine the ground turkey, parsley, salt, pepper and the red onion and garlic. Mix gently, just enough to bring it together.
- Form into 4 patties (about ¼ pound each).
- Add a little extra oil to your pan if needed and let the oil heat up on medium heat. Add the patties to the pan and cook for about 7 minutes per side, or until cooked through.
- If you’re adding cheese, place a slice on top during the last 2 minutes to melt.
- Stack your burger on a toasted bun with lettuce, tomato, and avocado slices.
Serve it up with a simple side salad of mixed greens, cucumbers, and cherry tomatoes with a drizzle of olive oil and vinegar. Or for the kids, some store-bought fries heated in the oven. And just like that, dinner’s done.
A Little Extra Love
What I love about this recipe is that it feels restaurant-worthy without trying too hard. The avocado adds creaminess, the herbs keep it bright, and the turkey makes it light and wholesome. It’s a leaner take on a classic burger. Full of fresh flavor and perfect for when you want something that tastes indulgent but still feels good.
Sometimes I’ll prep a double batch and freeze half. When life gets busy (which it always does), I can just pull them out and toss them in a pan or on the grill. Quick, delicious, and family-approved.
A couple small alternatives to speed up prep time
You can opt to use 1 tablespoon of garlic powder instead of fresh garlic. Just add it directly to the bowl when you add in the salt, pepper, and other ingredients.
You can also use the parsley paste that comes in a tube, about two heaping tablespoons works perfectly.
And if you’re short on time, you don’t have to cook the onion before adding it to the turkey mixture. Just know it will be a bit more crisp once the burgers are cooked.
